“Any child can be developed, it depends on how you do it”
Kids Haven Community Child Care believes that knowledgeable and responsive
early childhood practitioners are essential to early childhood settings. Kids Haven
Community Child Care adheres to the Early Childhood Educators Act (2007), which
definition is the practice of early childhood education is the planning and delivery of inclusive, play based learning and care programs for children in order to promote the well being and holistic development of children.
In all of our programs, we exceed the Ministry of Educations provincial requirements as set out by the Days Nurseries Act for Ontario. Our teaching staff are trained Early Childhood Educators who have received a post secondary diploma in “Early Childhood Education” from a college recognized by the Association of Early Child Educators and have a thorough knowledge of early childhood development. All our teaching staff are members of the College of Early Childhood Educators. The combination of training and field experience enables our staff to be responsive to the developmental level and characteristics of a child, their families and their community which is central to supporting learning and development as well as establishing social and physical environments where children can thrive.
All staff members are required to maintain current First Aid/Child CPR/Anaphylaxis certification. All staff are required to undergo a comprehensive screening process, including a Police Reference Check, when they are hired and their performance is reviewed bi-annually. As a support to the field of early child education, our centres throughout the year are used as a teaching centre for students from the colleges pursuing a career with young children. All students and volunteers are required to have a clear Police Reference Check prior to participating in any of our programs. Kids Haven firmly believes that providing opportunities for professional development for staff, ultimately leads to an early learning environment with high quality and better outcomes for children.
